An intervention similar to that of breast reduction is carried out in cases in which the breast, without being excessively large in volume, has suffered a significant fall. In these cases, however, tissue resection is minimal, since they are used – sometimes with the aid of a prosthesis – to give adequate volume and projection to the breast, once it has been remodeled in its ideal position.

The scars are similar to those of breast reduction but generally shorter. Reduced tissue resection results in an even lower incidence of postoperative complications.
